Subnetting Chart

For those who attended the Data Communications and Networks course will find this chart very familar!  This chart was created as a tool to quickly calculate subnet masking and IP addressing. This is also a very handy tool when working with VLSM (variable length subnet masking).

Subnetting -
This links to a subnetting chart a bit different from the one posted above but equally helpful.

This subnetting example was found on the web (URL is attached).
This is an interesting site that you may want to take a little extra time to explore. You might want to bookmark this site for later reference as you continue your CCDA studies.

Cisco Icon Samples

Cisco Icons

These are samples of the types of icons available to use in creating network diagrams.   It is far easier to communicate complex network design with a network drawing.  Visio (a Microsoft program) is the predominate networking software common among Network Engineers.

It is good practice to create a directory to store the icons and to reference and use as needed.
This graphic was created using a trial version of Edraw (http://www.edrawsoft.com/). Typically I use Visio (Microsoft)to create network diagrams, but I am experimenting with other tools to compare features and functionality.

I will be creating many network diagrams throughout this course and will be posting for further learning opportunities and discussion.
